Playa San Lorenzo occupies Gijón Bay as a large urban beach of golden sand, 1,500 metres long and 110 metres wide. The promenade and its direct relationship with the city are essential parts of its identity, together with high visitor numbers and usual swell conditions ranging from moderate to strong. Access is easy on foot or by car, with more than 100 parking spaces and several urban bus routes. Practical facilities are extensive: toilets, showers, food, sun-lounger and parasol hire, a nautical club and a sports area.
