About us
DePlaya is an independent guide designed to help people understand beaches and other bathing areas in Spain before travelling.
Useful information with context
We bring together water-quality, weather, marine and facilities information from public sources. Our aim is to turn scattered data into clear, dated guides that are easy to use on a phone.
We are not a public authority, lifeguard service or health authority. Instructions from lifeguards, councils and emergency services always take precedence over this website.
How we work
We store the source and date of each item. We distinguish a confirmed swimming flag from an estimate, an annual Blue Flag from swimming safety, and a historical water classification from a current incident.
When a source does not publish enough information, we prefer to show the item as unknown. See details in our methodology and sources.
