Playa El Charcon offers a 855-metre stretch, 35 metres wide, in a lightly developed area of eastern Mijas. The grey sand and calm waters form part of a semi-urban setting protected as the Calahonda Special Area of Conservation. At the western end, beside Chaparral beach, lies the nudist area known as Playamarina, a distinctive spatial feature of this coastline. It is easily reached on foot or by car from the A-7, with parking and an interurban connection. Facilities include showers, restaurants and hire of sun loungers and parasols.
