What it is like
Playa de la Butibamba, also called La Cala, occupies the central section of the Mijas coastline, within the urban centre of La Cala de Mijas. It is a golden-sand beach 1,250 metres long and 30 metres wide, accompanied by a seafront promenade and a boat-launching area. Its surroundings combine an urban character with environmental protection, as it forms part of the Calahonda Special Area of Conservation. Access is easy on foot or by car from the A-7, with more than 100 parking spaces and adapted facilities.
