Cala Illa Mateua is a cobble beach within Parc Natural de Montgrí, les Illes Medes i el Baix Ter, an setting also identified by its opportunities for diving and the nearby presence of the sunken vessel Cotentin. It measures 170 metres in length and about 15 metres in width, with a semi-urban coastal frontage and medium occupancy. Access is straightforward both on foot and by car via the GI-623, with parking and an interurban bus. Anchorage is also available nearby and Club Nàutic L'Escala is located there.
