What it is like

Characteristics published by official sources

Playa de Zarautz is an urban beach 2,500 metres long and 80 metres wide, extending between the mouth of the Iñurritza or San Pelayo stream and Punta de Iteico. Its golden sand lies close to the road between Zarautz and Getaria, while a vegetated dune appears at the eastern end, included in the Iñurritza ZEC. The usual waves are strong and windy, and the beach hosts national and international surfing championships. Access is on foot or by car, with more than 100 parking spaces, a promenade and assisted bathing in season.
