What it is like

Characteristics published by official sources

Playa de Plentzia extends across the estuary mouth as an urban beach of fine golden sand, 356 metres long and 170 metres wide. A small breakwater separates it from Playa de Gorliz, although at low tide the two form a single beach, explaining its changing configuration within the coastal complex. Occupancy is high, the promenade follows the frontage and the surf is moderate. It is easily reached on foot or by car via the BI-3154, with guarded parking for more than 100 vehicles and Metro Bilbao. There is assisted bathing, a children's area, food and a surfing area.
