What it is like
Playa El Castillo, in La Oliva, is recognised for its isolated character and varied composition of sand, gravel and cobbles. It stretches for 190 metres at the foot of a mountain front, south of El Cotillo, and has golden sand. It can be reached on foot or by car from El Cotillo via an unpaved track; urban bus routes 7 and 8 also serve it. It is windy and has strong waves, with the possibility of nudism. Practical facilities include parking, lifeguard service, first aid and accessible toilets.
