What it is like
Playa de San Román, also called Area Grande, comprises a kilometre of white sand with a very well-preserved and protected dune system. Although it is classified as semi-urban, the setting is described as rural and very quiet; vegetation and its inclusion in a ZEPA and a Site of Community Importance (SCI) reinforce this character. The beach reaches a width of 80 metres, has low occupancy and usually has moderate waves. It is easily reached on foot from the LU-862, with parking for fewer than 50 spaces and an interurban bus stop one kilometre away. There are showers, foot-washing facilities, litter bins, cleaning and a food service.
