Playa Matilde occupies the left bank of the mouth of the Verdugo river, a location that defines its semi-urban landscape. It is a 150-metre-long and 30-metre-wide stretch of golden sand, with calm waters, vegetation and protection as a Natural Area and part of the Natura 2000 Network. Visitor numbers are low and access is on foot or by car, with an interurban bus stop 300 metres away. Showers, food services, litter bins and cleaning provide the basic practical facilities.
