Playa Calahonda 1 forms part of the long Calahonda frontage, at the western end of Mijas and beside Cabopino Marina. The record describes almost 4 km of coast divided into different sections associated with housing developments, alternating beaches of varying-grain sand with more rocky areas; this specific section is 3,137 metres long and 20 metres wide and is classified as semi-urban, with dark sand. Areas of biological richness, native coastal vegetation and birds are also recognised. Its scale and material variety define a complex coastline.
