Playa de Major is an extensive isolated beach of fine sand, reaching 600 metres in length and 80 metres in width, with a semi-urban frontage and vegetation. It forms part of an area protected as Ramsar, part of the Natura 2000 Network, Site of Community Importance (SCI) and ZEPA, and its waters are described as open. Its size explains the reference in the listing to long walks.
