What it is like
Playa de Leira, also known as Arnela or Monteforte, is an isolated one-kilometre beach where sand and rock alternate facing a mountainous landscape protected by Red Natura 2000. Its configuration changes with the tide: the same beach forms Playa de Monteforte on its left-hand side, while two small inaccessible coves appear in the central area. Low occupancy coexists with conditions that can vary between moderate and strong waves. It is reached on foot or by car from the Caión to Baldaio road, with an interurban bus 1 kilometre away.
