What it is like
Playa de As Fontes is a small beach measuring 60 metres in length and 30 metres in width, formed by golden sand, rock and gravel beneath a cliff landscape. Its practical peculiarity is that it disappears at high tide, so the available space depends on the sea-level phase. It is an isolated, low-occupancy site exposed to strong waves and wind, within an area protected as a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA) and a Site of Community Importance (SCI). Access combines driving and a difficult section on foot from the DP-3603, with parking for between 50 and 100 vehicles. It shares services with Santa Comba, including toilets and showers.
