What it is like
Playa Esmelle shares its bed with Playa de San Jorge, from which it is separated by the O Xuncal stream. It is an isolated fine-sand beach, 160 metres long and 100 metres wide, facing a dune landscape protected as a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA) and Site of Community Importance (SCI). Vegetation and the broad frontage accompany a stretch with high occupancy and open-beach conditions. It is accessible by car from the DP-3606, with more than 100 parking spaces and an interurban bus service nearby. Facilities include toilets, showers, foot-washing showers, bins and cleaning services; a campsite and picnic area are also nearby.
