Beach at a glance
What it is like
Playa del Bigaral, also called Los Cristales, is an isolated beach measuring 160 metres long and 20 metres wide, with white sand, rounded stones and gravel beneath a vegetated cliff. The second name recalls that the cove was used as a dumping ground by an old glass factory; the eroded, polished remains are mixed with the stones. Visitor numbers are low and the surf strong. Access on foot from the AS-239 is difficult, with parking for fewer than 50 vehicles.
