Playa de Carolinas lies to the left of the port of Ribeira as an urban beach of gravel and calm waters. Its 400 metres of length and 10 metres of width form a narrow frontage accompanied by a seafront promenade and anchorage area, with medium occupancy. Access is easy on foot or by car, with fewer than 50 parking spaces and an interurban bus. The facilities in use include bins, cleaning, a tourist office, food service, a sailing club and hire of nautical activities.
