What it is like
Playa de Barquiña is a narrow urban beach, 500 metres long and barely 6 metres wide, formed by sand and gravel beside a shallow coastal area. The landscape is marked by muddy sandy sediments and the proximity of the urban surroundings, within a Site of Community Importance (SCI). Its waters are calm, but the listing describes an environmentally degraded space affected by untreated sewage discharges, rubble and other illegal dumping. It can be reached on foot or by car via the AC-6201, with an interurban service 1 km away.
