About this reservoir
Embalse Romano Proserpina identifies this inland bathing area in Mérida, in the province of Badajoz, within Extremadura. The reservoir surroundings function as one of the city's main leisure areas and have prepared bathing areas, beach bars and paths around the perimeter. They also retain significant historical interest because of their Roman origin and relationship with the water supply of ancient Mérida. The council has planned improvement works including beach-style areas for staying, accessible routes, parking and separate waste collection.
