What it is like
Playa de San Antonio, also called Picones, is an isolated white-sand beach beside the rural settlement of Picones and separated from Cuevas del Mar by Punta San Antonio. Its 70-metre length and 47-metre width lie beneath vegetated cliffs, within Paisaje Protegido de la Costa Oriental, a Special Protection Area for Birds (ZEPA) and a Site of Community Importance (SCI). Although it is reached on foot from Cuevas del Mar, use is high and the listing notes strong waves, wind and currents. No specific beach facilities are recorded.
