Playa Villarrube is a large isolated beach 1,650 metres long and 55 metres wide, surrounded by dunes and wetland. Golden sand and calm waters characterise most of the beach, while its two ends have strong currents at the mouths of the As Mestas and Ferrerías rivers. The area is protected as a Site of Community Importance (SCI) and has vegetation. It is reached by car via the AC-566, with parking for between 50 and 100 vehicles, showers and lifeguard services.
