Playa Melide occupies an isolated location between Cabo Home and Cabo Pequeño, within a protected natural area. Its 275 metres of length and 40 metres of width form a white-sand beach surrounded by vegetation, with a mountain frontage; the usual conditions combine moderate waves and wind. The area includes anchorage and basic services. Access is by car or on foot via the road from Cangas to Cabo Home, part of which along the Costa de la Vela is unpaved.
