What it is like
Playa de la Negra is an isolated cove set at the end of a ravine, with dark sand and gravel amid a mountainous, vegetated landscape. Its 250-metre length and 30-metre width form part of a broad group of protected designations, including LIC/ZEC, a Special Protection Area for Birds (ZEPA), Paisaje Protegido and Reserva de la Biosfera. Calm waters complete the contained character of the place. The usual access is by boat, although the listing also records difficult access on foot from the GM-3 road; the nearest marina is Puerto Deportivo de San Sebastián.
