What it is like
Estany d'Es Peix is a coastal sector of very fine, somewhat muddy sands, connected to the open sea by the narrow passage of Sa Boca. The shore reaches 1,000 metres in length but is only 10 metres wide, with dark sand and pebbles, a semi-urban frontage and calm waters. The area is protected as Reserva Marina d'es Freus, an Área Natural de Especial Interés and Parque Natural, and still accommodates small-draught boats. It is easily reached on foot or by car via the PM-820, with parking for fewer than 50 vehicles.
